The actor who played the sheriff
He was 68-69 when this was made. Do you think that there's any sheriff's out there that are that old?
shareAren't sheriffs elected in the US? If so, I would think that it's not improbable for one or two in a small town to be that age
shareIt depends on the county whether sheriffs are elected or appointed. And, in many jurisdictions, the sheriff doesn't go into the field much if at all. Like a Chief of Police or a Police Commissioner they mostly work behind a desk.
This post should not be construed as a criticism of sheriffs. That is a job that must be done and, especially with a reasonably large force, someone has to be the coordinator.
