They are shooting on film, right?

If they shot this digitally, it would be extremely ironic considering the subject matter.

reply

Fair point...that would indeed be a nice touch.

At the end of the movie, it states that it was shot on Kodak 35 mm film.

reply

But, was it shot on Kodachrome? ;-) If that had only been possible...

reply

That certainly wouldn't be possible in 2017.... But I do wonder if anyone hasshot a feature film on a slide film (reversal) like Kodachrome...

Motion picture film is a negative film, if I'm not mistaken...

reply

It is, that's why I said "If that had only been possible." The only instance I know of using reversal film as motion picture film was with Kodachrome Super 8. With the complex processing needed for Kodachrome, I would guess that using it for anything but 50-foot reels of Super 8 would have been problematic.

Also, you want negative film for motion pictures, because you want to strike positive prints for exhibition.

I recently saw a 1940s short subject on TCM that was shot on Kodachrome. Unfortunately I can't remember what it was. I've never seen a feature-length motion picture that was, as far as I know, done on Kodachrome. Before digital photography took over I shot thousands of slides on Kodachrome 25 and 64. Beautiful clarity and color saturation. Too bad they quit making it.

reply

Yeah, I wish I had shot more on Kodachrome. I only got around to it in its final year. I still have unused rolls in my closet.
