Question (Spoilers)

The rebel Replikants wanted K to kill Deckard. Why was this important to them?

He had no knowledge on where his child was and from my point of view was unimportant to their cause... except perhaps that he was the father of this girl.... in other words, should not be killed.

So my question, why did they want K to kill Deckard?

reply

Maybe because they didn't want Wallace to get ahold of him. Or once Wallace did have Deckard, they didn't want him to be able to use him (to have Wallace benefit from part of Tyrell's plan to have models that could replicate themselves), because that would mean millions more replicant slaves under Wallace's power?

reply

... but if anything the story proves the born are not in his power. Eventually the replikants wake up, even the evil one said she would lie to Wallace if need be.

Another one explained to me that the movie actually tells us that the Rebel leader wanted Deckard killed because he was the only one knowing her identity (back from when she "rescued" the child)... and he could therefore lead Wallace to the rebels if he was broken. So it was not about his child. Of course, it then begs the question or observation that many knew this rebel leader so what makes him stand out? Well he was on their attention and so therefore, I guess. Though K as also being hunted at this point and he too knew (now) about the rebels. A bit weak explanation imo but it does answer my OP.

I got the impression that even though Deckard didn't know where his daughter was, he knew the people who knew where she was. That's why he was a danger to them.

reply

I agree partially with your conclusion.

Wallace made it clear he would get the information he was looking for out of Deckard one way or another. He said he had the means of making Deckard experience "real pain," but those means are off world.

The Replikants knew Wallace would eventually get that information out of Deckard, so they wanted K to intercept Wallace. Why K? His special skill for finding and retiring Replikants.
