Your ranking's very nice. I can see why you and I feel the same way about Scream 3 being number 6. First off, I didn't think Scream 3 was as bad as everyone made it out to be. It still had good performances, some nice kills, and a great concept on satirizing movie trilogies. However, what ruined it for me is that it put a little too much emphasis on silly satire which makes the whole movie less intense and scary when compared to the first two Scream films. So, not a terrible 3rd entry, but could've been WAY better.

reply

Yeah I agree completely.

Your ranking's pretty good. The reason why I put Scream (2022) and Scream VI below in my ranking is that while they're good movies in their own right, they kind of lack the spark of the original Scream. Not to mention they're somewhat retreaded the first two Scream movies in terms of structure (the first taking place in Woodsboro and the second taking place in a college). However, I'll give them some credit for not putting too much emphasis on silly satire like Scream 3 did.

Your list is the exact same as mine. I personally think Scream IV is criminally underrated.

reply

Totally. It did a great job satirizing horror movie remake tropes and it became just as suspenseful and scary as the first. 9/10 for Scream IV.

6. Scream 5

1st is a classic, love it. 2nd one is good but killing off Randy just devastated me at the time, I would probably rank it higher. I like 3 period, not many people do but it just seemed different in a good way. IV is great too. I would have liked it continue with these characters how Kevin Williamson wanted. I do not like 5. It was the first of the franchise I didn't see in theaters. I was upset not seeing it on the big screen, but then upon seeing it, I was grateful. It sucked, to each their own. I did not like one thing about it. VI, I liked. I think it could have been a lot better though.

1. Scream (1996)
2. Scream 2 (1997)
3. Scream VI (2023)
4. Scream (2022)
5. Scream 4 (2011)
6. Scream 3 (2000)

Scream (1996) is the front runner easily. Scream 2 (1997) is the best sequel in my opinion. The other four are quite neck and neck, I could rank then in pretty much any order. For now I'd lean in favor of the two recent entries, though that may involve some recency bias.
