Why does he keep casting her in his movies? She's a horrible actress. The fact that she's playing the lead role is why I won't be watching this movie. I mean, if it's absolutely necessary to have her in every movie you make then give her smaller roles. Maybe it's just me.
She's a great actress in my opinion. I enjoy watching her in every film she stars in. She really carries every scene she stars in and makes every second of her screentime memorable and enjoyable in a way few actresses can for me. The fact that she's playing the lead role is why I'm looking forward to the movie so much. I'm glad he keeps casting her and hope he won't stop any time soon. I respect Rob Zombie for saying "F--- what everyone else says, I do what I want" by continuing to cast Sheri because I know he must read reviews, message boards, and Facebook/Twitter posts and see bad things about Sheri all the time. I'm glad he does what he wants no matter what people say because it shows they are his films and not anyone else's.
I agree. People look at her being his wife waaaaaay too much and don't really analyze her acting correctly. Leaves it to be too biased. She is a good actress whether anyone wants to believe it or not.
I concur. People also don't properly analyze Batman & Robin, the best superhero film ever. It's a wonderful movie whether anyone wants to believe it or not.

Thanks for giving "Batman & Robin" some lovin' -- easily the best of that tetralogy ('89-'97).

if they are "his movies and not anyone elses" as one poster put it, why not just spare us the ordeal of watching it and keep it in his closet. the fact that sheri zombie can't act isn't a big deal when compared to how much rob zombie can't direct.
She can act, actually. She has proven that repeatedly with each time she has acted in one of Rob Zombie's movies. Of course she wasn't going to be a master at acting in House of 1000 Corpses because it was her first movie and she'd never acted before at that point, but with each movie she gets progressively better. And if you think it's such an "ordeal" to watch Rob Zombie's movies, then don't watch them. It's that simple. But don't go on Internet message boards complaining about them every chance you get and ruin the fun for those of us who do enjoy them.
no drugs? ever?? there's your problem! when your mind is never expanded, it tends to find shallow unimportant and uniteresting things very cool. movies that are easy to wrap your head around (because they are written and directed for 14 year olds) often appeal to the uninitiated whereas someone with a slightly broader view will find childish things well...childish.
you should visit Washington state sometime. weed is legal here. it would do you well.
Shallow, unimportant things? I love how you think you have an advanced view of how my mind works just because I happen to like some movies and some people you don't. Get off your high horse. Just because I like Rob Zombie's movies and you don't doesn't make you any better or any more sophisticated than me.
@Remus and Romulus: The fact that your signature has "that's what she said" shows that you are not only not better than horror 2, you're actually pretty immature. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and if horror 2 thinks Rob Zombie is a brilliant director and Sheri Zombie is a great actress, that is his/her opinion. You shouldn't belittle people for their opinion. So why don't you go take some drugs and expand you mind now, because it seems a little narrow to me.
Was just looking this movie up and reading comments but didn't agree with this reply. If you believe that and need drugs to expand your mind it must have been pretty contracted to begin with. Just saying...
What a genius comment. Drugs IMPAIR your mind stupid, and that took me a long time to realize that. But, since you obviously do drugs regularly, you feel you NEED them to think outside of the box. I've done them all, so no need to make suggestions. And i'm an artistic person. Yes, i've created some great stuff out of temporary 'expansion', but overall i wasn't expanded. Hopefully you won't destroy as many brain cells as I did in the process of finding out what I just told you.
"the fact that sheri zombie can't act isn't a big deal when compared to how much rob zombie can't direct."
haha. yes.
They both suck. But it must be fun to make movies with your lover and if you can con a bunch of chuckleheads into footing the bill, so much the better. The only person getting hurt is the sorry fan expecting a decent horror movie. I go into Rob's movies knowing that i'm basically watching a friend's home made movie, it just happens to have a million dollar budget.
"I said no camels, that's five camels, can't you count?"
I am a fan expecting decent horror movies, and I get them every time I watch a Rob Zombie film. Neither of them suck and I have no idea why people seem to think they do.
I agree. I think Sheri Moon Zombie is a good actress. A lot of the scenes in House Of 1,000 Corpses, and Devil's Rejects, in my opinion, were greatly enhanced by her. She has a presence about her, and I enjoy seeing what she's going to do next, or say next.
If you despise them so much, why are you here? What is the point? I would never go on a forum, just to nag on a film I don`t like. And you haven`t even seen it. Do you just enjoy being a bitch? Or do you just have way too much free time on your hands, and thus like to use it to be an annoying wanker? Just saying..
Wow. I would HATE to be as shallow and close-minded as you are. I would never not see a movie simply because of one actor. I wonder how many great movies you have missed simply because you didn't like one actor in the movie. Sucks to be you!
I also find it hilarious the couple of people on here who are bashing Zombie in every topic............but are taking the time to come to a Zombie forum to do so!!!! Instead of spending time in a forum for actors/directors you like, you instead choose to spend your time in ones that you don't like. How weird and pathetic is that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Poor clowns are getting owned by a director they don't like!!!!
See, I don't understand that argument. Someone else on this thread made it too. The whole "if you dont like it, why waste your time, etc, etc" thing. It's not called a FAN board... it's called a discussion board. That means people of all opinions can come and express them. If IMDb was just people fawning all over every movie and no one ventured outside of what they liked, it would be seriously boring. What is there to discuss if everybody just agrees that whatever they're talking about is super? People like to initiate discussions, and yes, sometimes arguments. Some people like to argue. If you dont, then dont answer them!
I came here to say the same thing. I like Rob Zombie's music, I think his movies are fun, I think Sheri Moon is fine in a bit role, but he keeps propping her up in serious roles and now a starring role and it just reeks of forced nepotism.
Come on Rob...
I understand if you're a fan and willing to overlook it and buy into it, but perception is reality, and the perception is that she is not a very good actress, and that is for the most part true. She cannot carry a movie. It's one thing to be a director that uses the same actors over and over again, a lot of well known directors do that, but most of them don't do it with their wife and family.
The only other two I can think of are Coppola, who got away with it mostly, but was vilified for using Sophia Coppola in Godfather 3, because she was a hideous actor, and John Gulager on project greenlight, getting mocked for wanting to only use his mostly unknown friends and family.
It works if the actor is decent, Sheri Moon Zombie is about a 4 out of 10 in acting skill if you're being honest with yourself. You can look at one scene or style and say she does well, but she has too many bad scenes or flaws to not be noticeable. Maybe with practice she'll be better, and maybe she's good in this movie, but just from watching the trailer, I had to shake my head at the casting. The role looks like it's for a 22 year old, and they're trying to make a 40 year old fit the part, and her delivery was just odd/bad.
I don't say these things to be mean, nor am I happy to do so, but these are legitimate criticisms for a guy I think is underrated as a director, and is quickly becoming the stock hack to point at and make fun of.
That's a matter of opinion. You're talking as if it's a proven fact that Sheri is a bad actress and it's not. Where others see poor acting skills, I see performances that are legendary. Where others see cheesy B-movie junk, I see a classic for the ages. Opinion is opinion and apparently Rob has the same opinion on me in regards to Sheri's acting talent or else he wouldn't be casting her. If your family member can act, I see no problem with hiring them in your film. Also, he knows he'll be comfortable around her because they get along well, creating a better mood and atmosphere for the set. I, for one, am happy to see her in the lead role and think she'll do a terrific job. I do think she has the talent to carry an entire film.
I agree with everything you have said on this topic. I think she is great, I think Rob is great so I am happy to go see it. Plus she is just beautiful on top of everything else.
I like Sheri's acting and, as someone pointed out in an earlier post, I think it gets better with each movie. She is still learning her craft, in other words. I thought she was quite effective as Michael Myers' mother in the Halloween remake and, considering she was pretty much carrying the entire film on her own, she did quite well in Lords of Salem.
Having said that, I've watched LOS twice now, and each time I've thought to myself, "I wonder what she would be like with a different director and/or a different genre?"
I love all of Rob Zombie's movies, (well ok, the animated one was a tough pill to swallow), but I wish I could see Sherri in a movie without Rob's fingerprints on it... just to see if she could pull it off... as a fan, I'm very curious.

Have you seen the remake of The Toolbox Murders directed by Tobe Hooper. She is only in the first ten minutes of the movie then she gets killed off, but it's the best 10 minutes of the film if I do say so.
Just as with any performer, some like them and some don't. I happen to love Sheri. She, in my humble opinion, has grown as an actress tremendously throughout all of the films she has been in. And she is stunning to look at as well. Of course, someone else will vehemently disagree with me. You know what they say about opinions. No need to get ugly about differing view points, everybody.
Even if Uwe Boll would be willing to cast her, she'd probably turn down the role. She only does good quality films because she is a good quality actress. She is not the best actress I've ever seen in my life (she is near the top though in my opinion), I will give you that much. But she is NOWHERE NEAR the worst either like you said. You need to watch a lot more movies if she is the worst you've seen, especially super low budget movies that don't have enough money to hire real actors. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against low budget movies, it's just that some of them don't have a lot of people who are good at acting.
Please, she fine at what she does. But, when I said in a different thread that I'd like to see her with a different director, of course I didn't mean Uwe Boll... I meant a quality director... ha!
If, by chance, she does have acting chops beyond what she's shown so far (I'm a fan), then only a good or great director will be able to bring out that latent talent.
