Both disappointing and

not too bad at the same time. It's nicely filmed and the cast speaks well. But at the same time it feels like a badly abridged quick read.
I think on balance it's better than I expected but a long long way short of the Zeffirelli's version.

How does it compare to the Leo & Claire version?

I never knew about this movie and I somewhat follow Hailee's movie roles. Sounds like this is a complete modern send up and not an actual Shakespearean adaption. The 90s version had some post-modern elements but it was still set in the Renaissance era.

Nope, it's not a modern retelling - it holds to the renaissance setting and Shakespaerean language but tweaked for a go-faster version.
