These kind of "Heist" movies are plot driven , the story needs to be at least remoteley plausible
no plausible is the wrong word "not totally pointless and nonsensical" might be better
This one is ... its just ... stoopid

The whole point of the movie is :
"Guy steals diamond to prove he didnt steal it years ago"

How does that make any kind of sense?
How does stealing this diamond in any way prove he didnt do it earlier?

There is another thread about his, but its so stupid I thought it deserved another .

The majority of people would believe he stole the diamond, got caught, and then tried to "prove" his innocence by planting the diamond.

Yeah thats true, I hadnt thought of it that way.

Thats like a pirate digging up his treasure to prove he didnt steal it !

At least now he own the diamond, because Double Jeopardy he can't be trial.
