Just a MovieChat heads up: you can also post on boards for SINGLE episodes now

IMDB didn't allow us to post about specific episodes before. Any time you clicked on an episode to discuss, it brought you to the main boards.

Here is the "Bury Me Here" page:

Bury Me Here - Season 7 Episode 13

I even started a thread to show it works like a charm. You can do this for all television shows. And it seems to self-generate for upcoming episodes as well. What I'm going to do is post here, and once in a while post a few thoughts (if I really liked an episode) on the other pages too. Future Googlers and Netflix binge-watchers will appreciate you leaving some extra thoughts for a particular episode they liked as well.

Cool.

Thanks! I never knew that trick, and I was on IMDB for a long time. Strange that IMDB made it so hard to do though, like they were hiding a feature. Unless it was just another oversight they never bothered to look at. I wouldn't be surprised either.

Whacha mean self-generate, Atomic?

reply

Maybe I didn't use the right word, but I noticed that upcoming episodes already have their pages up:

Tomorrow's episode (S7ep14) is called "The Other Side" and MovieChat already has a page for it (no posts in there yet, of course):

The Other Side page
The Other Side Talking Dead page

And even the next next one is up (S7ep15):

Something They Need page
Something They Need Talking Dead page

I'm fairly sure Jim didn't manually create these pages, since it would be impossible to make pages for so many upcoming shows (there has to be hundreds of new episodes out there every month...and eventually thousands). What I think is, MovieChat has a way to "grab" this info from IMDB or Amazon. That's what I meant by self-generating. The software (or whatever it may be called) knows how to create its own pages the moment that info is up on IMDB/Amazon.

The TWD season finale episode isn't up there. AMC hasn't released an episode title yet (as far as I can see). So the moment that info is officially announced and on IMDB, MovieChat grabs that and makes a new page. This is how I *think* it works. For all I know I could be way off base lol

Okay, I didn't understand. Thank you. I thought the new ep would override the last, which was stupid to think since all the comments would be wiped. Oh well, I B Slow Sometimes.

There isn't enough activity on this main board yet to be concerned with individual episode boards.

reply

That's true. My main area of activity will always be the in here.
For big episodes like season finales, or just really awesome episodes, I'll probably copy & paste or summarize my thoughts for those specific pages as well.

Because, the way I figured, someone doing a Google search may actually run across MovieChat's specific board page first (like they were searching for "Bury Me Here" and find that link I posted).

True, they could just come here as well, where's there's far more activity. But maybe they might have questions about Bury Me Here but have trouble finding specific posts about it, and everyone has moved on to Season 9 episode 12 and are way ahead of them.

Great idea.

It'd definitely save time.

reply

Interesting, but it would be great to be able to see direct links to the episode discussions from the main forum. Not everyone knows the names of episodes on first search. Maybe just a list of the last 5-10 episode forums.

Thanks for setting this up!

reply

Cool, thanks.

Now to add to that, would be awesome of each season of anthology shows (like American Horror Story) got their own board.
