Does this show any of the Nazi stuff?

I can't remember the exact details but I think Edward - the guy who stepped down - was the guy who famously had the Queen and Queen mother maybe (?) doing the Nazi salutes in the garden. I think he was the late Queen's Uncle?

The British press released the pics a while back and the Royals were furious and trying to shut the story down...

Anyway does this feature in this film? Did his brother's behaviour contribute to his nervousness?

To start, the film though well acted and scripted, it historically inaccurate. I did enjoy watching it though.

There is nothing about nazi appeasement in the film. The behavior of Albert's brother was exaggerated to dramatic affect.

Thanks 👍

There is one scene of George and the family watching film of Hitler giving a speech and he compliments Hitler's speaking abilities. But that's about it...

It's a very good movie though. I really liked it.

Not really addressed, as the film was set a couple of years before shit got real on that front, and anyway, I don't believe any of the "Nazi stuff" about Edward has ever been proven.

However... there were rumors that Edward and Wallis spent the war in Bermuda because the government didn't trust them, thought they were Nazi sympathizers. And the rumor that Edward conspired with Hitler to become kind when the Nazis took over is totally unverified, and seems pretty improbable. It's not like the guy had wanted to become king a couple of years earlier, why should he enter a conspiracy to get a job he never wanted back?

reply

no. edward has only one scene after his abdication.
