Stayed engaged throughout the whole thing

I enjoyed it a whole hell of a lot more than I thought I would. Great cast, catchy upbeat songs, fun story etc. It comes in relatively short at 105 minutes, but it packs a lot in and never makes it feel like it's dragging. I honestly don't understand all the bad reviews, but to each their own. I'll probably be buying it to be honest.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and did buy it. Although on the flipside, the first time I watched it I did spend about half the movie answering my wife's questions about PT Barnum's real life.

reply

I honestly didn't know it was based on a real person. I need to look into that.

For the record Zac Efron and Zendaya’s characters were made up for the movie.

reply

That's honestly not a surprise. I take all movies based on real people or events with a grain of salt.

reply

Same. It's quite entertaining.

Just finished it and I loooved it. Catchy songs too!

And I didn't knew much about the movie, except that it was a musical and that Hugh Jackman was in it. So I was surprised to see Zac Efron and Zendaya in it too haha.

it's pretty good. It definitely reminds me of Moulin Rouge but I do think Moulin Rouge is better. This movie would have been much better if it stuck a little closer to the actual story. This is more like a bastardization of the time period and Barnum's story.

Plus, I'm not so sure turning it into a musical was a good idea to be honest. It kind of distracts from what would have otherwise been an interesting story. But on it's own merits, it's still entertaining, I'd give it a 6.8 out of 10.
