Of course it needs to almost triple it to make a good profit.
It was so brave to give an original musical an 80+ Budget - almost crazy.
Even La La Land had "only" a 30+ budget.
Hope it pays off in the end. I loved the movie - great entertainment and great songs.
The comparatively large budget was likely approved in response to the success and/or early buzz from La La Land. That being said, the film is doing pretty solid business considering the competition.

Word of mouth has continued to be strong and I think that had a lot to do with the second week success. It actually did better than the first week and since then it has only dropped a little from week to week. People are clearly enamored with it and with this great soundtrack, I can see why.
