"I invited Christopher Nolan to the pilot read-through. And he sent the best f---ing email," the film's director Jorma Taccone told Vanity Fair. "It’s kind of stellar. It was such an amazing way to start the read-through."

Nolan's email reads, "Though I can’t be there in person to watch you take the first step of your odyssey — know that my spirit soars with you, and whilst it’s perhaps unfair to add to the great sense of responsibility you must already feel, I am duty-bound to tell you—the world is waiting, the world is watching."

Anne Hathaway said Nolan would constantly quote this movie on set. When asked which particular jokes he liked, he says the funniest ones were not PC and he couldn't repeat them.

My concern is, a lot of the funniest MacGruber jokes were the R-Rated ones. Is this new Peacock Network a sanitized streaming service, or will they allow TV shows and movies to go all out?

I share your concern.

I saw NO way this SNL skit could be made into a film, so I avoided it for a good long while.

The non-PC, off-color jokes were largely what sustained it, in my opinion. The standard PG-13 humor was also surprisingly good, but not enough to make a series out of.

Who knows, though? The film surprised me. Maybe the series will as well
