You never know how the audience is going to react. For me it is a good movie and a nice way to say "goodbye" to Indy.

Mangold resigning to his fate that his directing career is OVER.

Tim Miller recently said in an interview his phone stopped ringing after Terminator Dark Fate bombed and lost over 100m (and said something like I guess thats what happens if you break a billion dollar franchise)

Wonder if the same will happen to Mangold..

Yep same story

Miller's career doesn't look over, based on his IMDB. I imagine it was a big setback, though. He did do a series after Dark Fate. Maybe he had to pull in some favors for that. Now he's back doing a movie.

I guess MG has a better 'pre franchise bomb' career , full of Oscar worthy work and obviously Logan (pretty much what got him the Indy 5 gig), he'll probably be fine (except his SW prequel film might get canned)

funny how both Miller & Mangold's instalments were sort of beset by the prerequisite thing of including trends at the time (metoo, feminist and racial type stuff), maybe not too much, but possibly enough for audiences to smell it being abit too preachy/wokey , which added to the already negative elements for both (the previous film being generally unliked/considered disappointing, the leads having aged out, competition from more modern 'cool' films etc)
