Their pact

Was anyone else surprised that Eddie didn't say anything about HIV/AIDS during their blood oath, considering how crazy it was back then in 1989?

I totally thought that was coming. This movie sidestepped a couple of obvious gags. Kept you wondering the whole time. I thought the 'New Kids' jokes were eventually going to go over the line and wear out there welcome. But they stopped JUST shy. Film really was well written. Well acted (a cast of kids is not an easy thing to do well). I enjoyed the hell out of that movie. One thing that really impressed me. I'm a person that absolutely HATES 'jump scares'. I think they're stupid, and trite, and boring, and not scary at all. It always strikes me as a crutch used by people trying to be scary but who don't grasp what brings a feeling of true dread. I love that sensation, and very few films have achieved it. That being sad, 'It' had, in my humble opinion, the absolute best jump scare I've ever seen. Timing and buildup were absolutely perfect. Very effective. To impress me with a jump scare takes skill. This crew nailed it. Those who have seen the film probably know of which I speak. I'll not spoil it for those who haven't.

But did you notice they did not actually swap blood as pacts are usually supposed to go.... they held hands in a circle, meaning each cut hand held an uncut hand and so never blood touching another’s blood

I did not even notice the were using the wrong hands. What was the point of them cutting hands if they were not going to do the blood brother thing??

... they didn't get the memo
