Why make Russell Tovey play a straight werewolf?

I mean it was obvious to any idiot the actor was gay from square one so why not let him be a gay werewolf. I'm not saying he was bad, it's just that, like Zach Quinto, he is totally incapable of playing a believable straight man.

I'd disagree. i wasn't aware the actor was gay and no trouble believing his portrayal.

I wondered about his unusually big pitched winey voice, lol. Now I know why.

I agree some actors can't pull off a character they're playing. Another gay actor who can't play straight at all is Jonathan Groff in Mindhunter.

I don't agree at all. His acting is actually superb. Very believable. It's not his acting that you're thinking of. It's how he looks. He "looks" like he's gay. But as far as acting in a straight role, he's more than alright.
