NolanTards are SNOBS

They love proclaiming that The Dark Knight, in being so “realistic”, is somehow the most true to the dark, psychologically intense world of Batman. They say this because:

(a) They want to convince themselves that Batman comics really are intended to be this realistic and intense and

(b) They want to convince others that what they read is so realistic and intense so that they can feel less embarrassment at still reading them in their 20s and 30s. The reason they overrate that movie so much is because so much personal validation is tied into that movie for them. So the more realistic the movies are, the more comic fans will claim to anyone who will listen that they just witness a movie that is exactly like the books they’ve been mocked for reading for decades.

Maybe there is some truth to that. But IMO cinematic Batman works much better this way, working alone and grounded on reality. I don't think The Dark Knight needs 'excuses' to validate it's impact on audiences, it's easy to see why it is so beloved, it was just an awesome movie on its own. For one reason or another, it probably still stands as the most true to the dark, psychologically intense world of Batman. I do think that the imdb rating is a bit too high, maybe something in the 8,5-8,7 would be more suitable. After all those years of a more realistic Batman, and even though the fighting looks cool, sometimes I feel like Affleck's Batman comes across as silly when being around the League. Batman and maybe Iron Man, are probably the only heroes that would be feasible in real life for someone who has the resources. So that's probably why people liked the realistic approach so much.

Well, this same reasoning could also be applied to Logan, and I don't see the people who claim it to be overrated using the fact that it tried to be darker and more grounded as a factor.

We aren't snobs I would say that we are better people though.

I actually wonder what the hell is going on in the heads of people who think the Nolan Batman movies are the greatest ever made. I mean the movies aren't terrible but overall they're far from great, far from Nolan's best, but the appeal to the fan base has me stumped. I mean, I've had enough obsessions that I can usually figure out what makes fans obsess over something, but this I don't get.

Sometimes I think that the fans like to see themselves as the one person in a corrupt and violent world who's willing to stand up for justice and fight the bad guys, but then I look at the fans themselves. They all seem to be humorless weenies who'd shit themselves with terror if you ever put them on the Mean Streets of Gotham.
