Multi Level Marketing (MLM)

MLMs prey on depressed, down on their luck, needy people. They particularly seek out moms who just had a baby and are feeling down. They promise life changing benefits, a coveted lifestyle, and incredible wealth.

The reality is that most people lose money on MLMs. Expenses include the start up costs (starter kit and startup fees) and then there’s constant pressure to Reach advance levels of sales by purchasing large quantities of product that will be nearly impossible to unload (e.g. LuLaRoe).

People are recruited who don’t have any of the qualities necessary to succeed. But the recruiters don’t care, as long as they reach their quota of recruits. (e.g. Mary Kay sales people trying to earn their pink Cadillac). But the reality is that few people ever achieve that level of success.

At the time of her murder, Shanann was currently deep into LeVel/Thrive (the vitamin patches), but her facebook and other SM accounts show she had also been in Amway, ItWorks!, LulaRoe, Younique, Poonique, Thirty One, Origami Owl, and probably others, too.

I completely agree with you. I was sucked into Young Living essential oils for about 4yrs or so. I was part of a Facebook group that was huge and everyone was in the pyramid together. Many of these woman came across as bullies. If one negative thing was posted or asked you’d get attacked. I remember one woman getting burned after following a recipe someone posted. She wanted to warn others. She was quickly attacked and her post removed. Well a friend of hers posted again about essential oil safety and she too was taken down.

I have friends who was part of many MLM and it gets annoying with all their posts and live videos. Many follow scripts and doesn’t even sound like them. Those above them can be bully’s too. One friend felt forced to do live videos and then publicly scolded when she made a mistake. It’s sickening.

The lies about health and all natural are dangerous too. One friend tried some
MLM health supplements after talking to her friend. She had to go to the hospital due to her heart racing . She was told she was mixing supplements that shouldn’t be mixed. Yet on the MLM page they claim safe for everyone. It’s ridiculous
