It gets a tad tedious in a few scenes.

I'd also say it might be too long in terms of story. There was a moment when i felt like the story ended in a non-Hollywood fashion - and then, nah - we gotto save the girl. This last half an hour bit felt like an add-on of sorts. Still, even with all its flaws, i'd say this film is worth seeing, if you like sci-fi action. It really does remind me of cowboy bebop.

What's most peculiar about this film is its budget. Money laundering is a real thing in the US film making industry. I reckon Mel Gibson did say a few things about the peeps that control the Hollywood.

It's way too long. They could've easily make some of it into a sequel. Should have made more money that way.

About the budget, yes it's VERY surprising. I mean $22 mil? For a movie this long?

The Wandering Earth, a movie similar to this, cost $50 mil. And it was Chinese. We all know everything is cheaper in China! And it had no big name actors except Wu Jing, and he didn't get paid because the production ran out of money. Instead they pleaded him to invest $10 mil of his own money to help finishing the movie!

While this movie has several big name Korean actors and longer and better CGI. And everything is obviously more expensive in Korea. All this for $22 mil? Dang, these Koreans are efficient af.

I don't think efficiency is the key here. Money laundering/tax write offs are a huge thing in hollywood.

As I've mentioned earlier, in hollywood, you are looking at money laundering/tax write offs operations - that's why crappy films cost huge amounts of dollars on paper.

But I was comparing this movie to the very similar The Wandering Earth which was a Chinese production, not a Hollywood one. And it still needed $50 mil with no big name actors. While this movie, only cost $22 mil with SEVERAL big name Korean actors.

Maybe the Chinese movie industry is also rampant with money laundering just as Hollywood, but the Koreans are totally squeeky clean? I doubt it. Korean companies (chaebols) as far as I know are also very corrupt, at least on par to other countries.

But still, the fact that this movie has many long and high quality CGI shots (Bubs was in the scene since the very beginning to almost the end! Aren't those humanoid CGI quite expensive to animate?) yet only cost not even half the Chinese counterpart is very surprising to me.

I wouldn't call Koreans squeeky clean - but Korean actors are not exactly overpaid. Corporations/producers are usually the ones to make all the dough in a Korean production.

I agree it was too long. It felt like it was about three hours long. It could have used some disciplined editing. Fun movie, though.
