Can you watch the show before playing the game?

1. Do you need to play the game to understand the story?
2. Does the show give any spoilers about the game? (I haven't played it yet, but I plan to do so)

Thanks! :-)

1. This takes place in the year 2076, nearly a full year before the events of Vincent/Valerie in Cyberpunk 2077, so you can start with Edgerunners and make 2077 the sequel, or jump into Cyberpunk 2077 first and then see Edgerunners as a prequel. The two stories compliment each other.

If you are going to play Cyberpunk 2077, prioritize the Side Quests, Gigs, NCPD Assaults, and Cyberpsychos as priority, try to stay away from Main Quests as often as possible as the main story is a lot shorter than you'd think. Also, make sure you are playing on a non-potato system. High end PC, XBOX Series X, or PS5 only.

2. It kinda does with locations like Megabuilding H4, Arasaka Tower, the nCart Tram System, and The Afterlife Bar & Grill, or the inevitable confrontation with a certain high up Arasaka-affiliated individual which I won't name unless you ask, but for the most part the two stories are quite separate yet take place a year apart from each other in the same universe.

You can even use an item of clothing and a weapon from some of the characters in the show. How or why they are acquired is spoilerific.

i haven't played the game - saw the anime and I'd say the anime works well as a standalone
