What could happen to Vice President Stanton??

At the end of the movie he gets shot at, but he is not killed. After Frank Moses thanks Cooper he says to him referring to VP Stanton: "this gonna be a problem?" to which Cooper replies "No...I got it...granpa"

He finds out his father was President eight years before so he becomes President anyway.

I knew this movie was fiction when it had a Presidential candidate who was not only a veteran but a combat veteran and apparently in the infantry...
