Season 8, not that bad?

After finishing the show I browsed this forum and notice a lot of hate for season eight. I was a little surprised by it.

Yes, it was a weird choice to split Castle and Beckett up, but for me the "Castle winning Beckett over again not knowing he never lost her" actually worked better than expected. They even had a microcosm of that with Ryan and Espositio "breaking up" and coming back together to reinforce their bond. It also seemed like the show was positive and lighthearted compared to recent seasons.

Some complained about Castle being goofy and believing in a genie. I like that aspect of Castle though and enjoy "weird" episodes. Another odd choice was a horror themed episode before the finale yet it fit my taste.

Vikram wasn't developed much. Hayley was essentially the "strong female" archetype. It didn't feel too forced though, she was, if not entirely necessary, still cute and likable.

Sure, it was far from perfect. The LokSat arch was little more than a plot device and the reveal was weak. On the whole though I had a good time for most of it. Having three Firefly alumni appear was a nice bonus.

It was awful, the show should've stopped after season 7. The ending was also terrible. I wish I had brain bleach to remove the entire last season from my mind.

I feel the same. The eighth season was downright terrible.

There was no need to break Castle and Beckett up since they were technically married, Castle himself went from being intelligent to a bumbling fool, Beckett as Captain of the 12th Precinct was stupid since she's supposed to be pretty much confined to her desk, the amnesia bit was getting old and worn out, and the LokSat arch made absolutely no sense.

I'm sure there's a million other reasons this season shouldn't exist but I'm not about to go back and watch the destruction of my beloved show all over again.

I will give them this: The ending was satisfactory. They didn't kill off the Beckett character, and we got to see what their lives were like in the future with three children. That's probably the best we could ask for.

Honestly, I don't know WTF happened. I wanted to see Castle and Beckett go around and solve murders again. It should have ran another four more years. Too bad the writers screwed the pooch and completely altered what we loved about it to begin with.
