How much are ticket prices where you live?

Ok, I did this price comparison as I'm curious since I haven't lived in the U.S. for awhile. After fees and/or taxes the avg. came out to be around $22.

This is for a Sunday Night showing, adult ticket price as follows:

Los Angeles:
Ticket $25.99
Convenience Fee: $2.69
Taxes: 0
TOTAL: $28.68

Oklahoma City:
Ticket $12.49
Convenience Fee: $2.19
Taxes $1.28
TOTAL: $15.96

Las Vegas:
Ticket: $17.99
Convenience Fee: $2.69
No Taxes
TOTAL: $20.68

Thailand:
Ticket: $5.50
Convenience Fee: 0
No Taxes
TOTAL:$5.50

Oklahoma City in 1990: $2.50 or $3.50. I just read AMC is 4.5 Billion in the red. I don't see a bright future for cinema.

Roughly $25 here in Los Angeles. I’ll just wait to rent the Blu-ray from the library for $0, which in my opinion is a bit better price-wise. If they wanted to put my ass in their seat, they should’ve read the room and hired Mel Gibson.

Central FL $15.

11 matinee
14 evenings

Not too bad compared to some cities. According to the inflation calculator, that's like charging 3.50 for a matinee and 4.00 for an evening show back in '84.

Concessions like popcorn are out of control, though. Like 18 for a large popcorn and soda.

reply

Yes the ticket price is a little high but the popcorn is insane!

Back in the day I used to carry all sorts of goodies inside my jacket.

Heck, my senior year in high school my friends and I snuck in a 5th of Jack Daniels on a Sat night viewing of Tootsie(Dec, 1982). The place was packed and after we poured the Jack into our big cups of Soda the bottle slipped and clanged on the floor..LOUD! Then it slowly rolled down the floor all the way to the 1st row my friends and I got some dirty looks and a few chuckles from the crowd too. What a memorable night!

reply

Yeah, I used to sneak beer into movies back when I was around college age.

I saw it last night in San Francisco (Saturday night 6 pm) in IMAX:

Ticket: $25.99
Convenience Fee: $2.69
Taxes included I guess?
Total: $28.68

reply

UK;
Ticket: £8.90 ($11.27)

In LA, the price you quoted is correct in IMAX at night. You can go to a matinee with IMAX, it’s $20 and $12.99, matinee w/o IMAX and in the evening regular, it’s $19.99. Not to mention the parking ($5-$10). There’s also a theater called IPIC which is much higher bc it’s a cocktail type setting with couch like seating and serves food and cocktails. It’s ridiculous there but they do have truffle Parmesan popcorn which is very good. It’s actually sold out in the Dolby sound theaters which I haven’t seen that kind of capacity in a long time.

reply

19 bucks plus 2.69 fee. If you hit the matinee in the small crappy theater it's 11 dollars.

The real issue for me is the 90 minute drive to get there. Is a new movie worth all that hassle? Rarely. Factor in Joe Biden's pump prices and i'm forking over 50 bucks for this silly nonsense. If I want to eat any food and actually enjoy myself, your out a C note. That better be one helluva movie!
