Lots of criticism here, but...

...I really liked it. A slow burn. Moody, dark. The kind of film in which you just sort of lose yourself in the atmosphere.

Was the ending good? Bad? Who cares. That's not the point of a film like this one. This was a painting to be paused over. (Though for the record, I really liked the ending.)

Doesn't anybody here know how to properly regard a film?

It had its problems, but I don't regret watching it.

What were its problems?

I found the husband to be an asshole and there was too much flip flopping of is the guy looking at her a killer or isn't he. The story felt a little thin too.

The husband was supposed to be an asshole. I don't see that as a "problem" with the film. That was his character. The "flip-flopping" was by design, too. Was he the killer? Maybe. Maybe not. That enhanced the tension.

I'll only reiterate what I said above. The story ("thin" or not, and I happen to really disagree with that characterization) was secondary to the mood of this movie. The film was all about the atmosphere. It was a piece of art.

Yes, he was supposed to be an asshole, but I actually didn't mind if he was killed.

Of course, these things are subjective and everyone's entitled to their point of view.

But I'm surprised at the negativity too - I was on the edge of my seat watching this. The performances were great, and it's very well made. The ending delivered for me. It's a simple story, but the kind of story I love. Don't know if I want to admit this, but I've watched it 3 times, haha. Of course, the first watch was the most powerful, but this movie is right up my alley. Really liked it.

"It's a simple story." Yes, I think that's part of what I liked about it too. I don't know, maybe people prefer more complex, convoluted stories where you're supposed to try to guess at who the killer is and expect (even demand) some kind of crazy twist. Give me a straightforward story well told. And that was this one. (Ironically, these are probably more difficult to pull off.)

I surely plan on watching it at least one more time, maybe more!
