Most original take on the super hero genre?

its pretty intriguing but there is no way the US government would let a private organisation have control of the supes.

I haven't seen the show, but going by the premise, no. This sounds somewhat like One Punch Man. The superheroes work for a private organization that is based off of donations and has executives in control.

The Boys comic series started in 2006 and One Punch Man didn't first show up till 3 years later.

I can't agree or disagree, because I haven't seen the comic or series, and therefore have no idea whether this concept originated in the comic (which preceded OPM) or was added for the TV show.
