Main Actor's Age

The movie begins with Kurt Warner at 22 years of age and finishes with him at 28. The actor who played him (Zachary Levi) was 40. I don't get why they chose someone so significantly older. At the movie's beginning it seemed weird to me that someone who looked like he was in his late 30s was trying to pass as a college student. And as the movie progressed the main character never caught up even close to the actor's age. I think it would have been better if they would have used someone younger.

I think he was mostly chosen because of his resemblance to Warner. For what it's worth, I didn't really notice the age issue when I watched the film.

I remember Warner's ascension with the Rams and was aware of his age. That being said, he did have a mature look to him that exceeded someone in their 20s. Even Kurt's wife and her rooster haircut made me think that she was older than him by 5 years minimum, so Anna Paquin fits her role as well.

Filmbuff and Buorbonking have made very good points. He was probably the best choice. I can't really think of an actor in particular who might have been more appropriate or more believable. That probably should have been the title of my post - "Who can name an actor who might have been a better fit for Warner?"

i never understand how people "don't notice" these things. it's so distracting to see a 40-year-old man pretending to be a college kid, hunched over a computer in a college dorm. makes no sense why the cast levi.
