Robert Eggers is a bit weird. Does he have fetishes?

This is the second film in a row where characters are farting and acting like dogs on all fours barking. LMAO.

I always find it interesting when you get an upcoming director and you notice their repeating motifs.

All three of his films thus far have featured strong prescene of animals. This was less so but still plenty of birds, foxes and hell as I said the characters howling and barking like animals.

His first two featured archaic dialogue. The man loves a period piece with authentic dialogue. This film was less so but the studio had a stronger grip than his previous efforts. This was meant to be a hit, a film that appeals to the masses. So he did purposely temper his style a little. Still the dialogue is quite theatrical and stagey. Shakespearean.

I do find the acting like dogs and farting stuff to be weird though. I liked to joke that he has a fart fetish based on The Lighthouse, it was a joke but I'm starting to think it may well be true.

This film also had a incestual scene. Reminds me of people commenting on Villneueve having a 'mommy kink' based on the weird scene in Dune where Ferguson & Chalamet are changing their clothes and also Incendies. Eggers debut film did feature a slight hint of incest too, namely the younger brother eyeing up Taylor-Joys cleavage.

I mean... The Lighthouse had a Mermaid with a colossal cunt getting fucked. That's interspecies intercourse right there.

Like many Directors he seems to lace his perversions into his work.

I turned off the second they started acting like dogs and one of them burped. I wasn't too impressed before that either.

Norse culture draws on nature a lot and mythology in general likes debauchery.

then you missed out

Or...it was necessary to the story? Maybe forget the dime store psychology and just enjoy the movie?
