Movies you love that get alot of hate

It's funny. This movie has a 50% on RT, meaning there seem to be as many who like this movie as do dislike it. Most people I've met haven't seen it, and I've come across several people who seem to HATE it. And yet, every time I see it, I like it a little more.

I don't know, maybe it's because it was better than a lot of reviews had led me to believe, or maybe it was because it was better than what it could have been. I watch this movie and get the feeling that the people making it really put care into making it. Also, the acting was better than I would have thought. And it was the best of the live-action blockbusters Disney produced that year (then again that doesn't really say anything since the two were Prince of Persia, which was forgettable, and Alice in Wonderland, which shouldn;t have made as much as it did).

So, do you feel the same as I do for other movies(btw, I apologize if you like PoP or AiW)? Maybe even for this movie? Share your thoughts below.

Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and BioShock: Proof that video games are becoming better than movies.

Great film, don't understand the hate.

Tron Legacy is probably the best example of a movie I really like that is generally panned. But the thing is that most real-world people I've talked to that have seen it at least *liked* it, if not loved it. I'm not exactly sure where the hate comes from. I think the movie is borderline great simply because it does exactly what it sets out to do: be a visual and audio hammerblow to your senses, with a bit of cyberpunk fun along the way. It was clearly never aiming for any awards (although being snubbed for no nomination on the soundtrack is an absolute sin).

Other movies like this? I know Sunshine is quite polarizing and winds up getting a lot of hate, mainly due to the third act, but it remains one of my all-time favourite movies. Which is odd, because it's another one of those sensations for the eyes and ears with not a whole lot else going for it. I think that's an acceptable medium in movie making, even if some people disagree.

It really should have had oscar nominations for soundtrack, the folly work and cinematography. Then again the people who vote on oscars don't have a background in such areas and often vote based on 15 minutes of footage on dvd 'screeners' (that look worse then normal dvd's apparently). Oblivion is another example of an amazing soundtrack, cinematography and sound effects being snubbed.

I think most people just don't have an imagination i'm not sure.
It was a truly epic film on all accounts, gave it a 9/10. Its just one of the films that has that feel about it. Everything works for me, the tone the mood, the soundtrack all blend perfectly. The story is great the action was great, the acting was fine. One of my favorite films of all time, I still enjoy it and I have seen it almost 10 times now.

I enjoyed Prince of Persia, although not on the same level as Tron.
Alice in Wonderland was meh... average.

Redbelt (search for it as one word or imdb won't locate it) - Lots of people assumed it was going to be some kind of martial arts movie when it ended up being a drama with a good story with some martial arts here and there where necessary for story purposes.. lots of hate also because some people seem to dislike the director (David Mamet) for some unknown reason.

Man of Tai Chi - Great martial arts film with excellent choreography, it gets a lot of hate though, mainly I believe due to the overt overzealous dislike some people have towards the director/villain of the movie - Keanu Reeves. There are also things which form somewhat of a list of questions/issues/complaints such as Keanu's lines being cheesy and a little cliche'd and his martial arts performance being a bit stiff and wooden, though for those complaints there are well-reasoned explanations around the forums which seem rather obvious if you think about it. It's one of those movies you really wish had a graphic novel origin with a bit more to the story - not that you need more, but because you can see the potential for there to be more.

Underworld (31% on RT) and Underworld: Evolution (16%). Guilty pleasures for sure!

It's spelled Raymond Luxury Yacht, but it's pronounced 'Throat-Warbler Mangrove'

I really like underworld too.
