Movies you love that get alot of hate

It's funny. This movie has a 50% on RT, meaning there seem to be as many who like this movie as do dislike it. Most people I've met haven't seen it, and I've come across several people who seem to HATE it. And yet, every time I see it, I like it a little more.

I don't know, maybe it's because it was better than a lot of reviews had led me to believe, or maybe it was because it was better than what it could have been. I watch this movie and get the feeling that the people making it really put care into making it. Also, the acting was better than I would have thought. And it was the best of the live-action blockbusters Disney produced that year (then again that doesn't really say anything since the two were Prince of Persia, which was forgettable, and Alice in Wonderland, which shouldn;t have made as much as it did).

So, do you feel the same as I do for other movies(btw, I apologize if you like PoP or AiW)? Maybe even for this movie? Share your thoughts below.

Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and BioShock: Proof that video games are becoming better than movies.

I LOVE this film, thought it was utterly beautiful, yes OK, the plot was slightly thin in some places but the plot was significantly stronger than the majority of films I see and the visuals were simply breath taking!

One of my favorite movies of all time is 'The Ninth Gate' with Johnny Depp. Brilliantly written and acted, but all I ever hear is hate because it was directed by Polanski.

The Tim Burton Batman movies. Everybody seems to hate those these days. The Schumacher movies as well actaully. I enjoyed Schumacher's humorous and retro Batman styled approach to the movie. I never knew Tron Legacy had a 50% rating on rotten tomatoes, although that's a direct result of me not caring much about these critic compilation sites anymore these days.

I would say that I still genuinely like Batman Forever and have something of a soft spot towards Batman & Robin for sentimental reasons.

Loved this movie.... I've seen it probably 7-8 times now, just keeps getting better and better. Its one of those movies you want to watch with someone that hasn't watched it again and again just to see there face and here there thoughts. And you want to tell people about it and talk about it.

I just finished watched real steel on sky, I that was bunch of bollox compared to this. Can't believe that has a 7.1 rating and this only a 6.9. Really shows how narrow minded and boring people are. Solid 9.5/10 for me. Gets way to much hate from unimaginative douchelords.

The Village - Great premise, great acting, great score, great story with a great twist that people are still mad about. This movie is so unfairly judged it's not even funny.

King Kong '76 - Admittedly it's the musical score (and Jessica Lange) that I've always loved about this movie ever since I was a kid.

Back off! ... Way off!

The ones I like that get hated on are
G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra
Tron: Legacy
Spider-Man 3
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Half-Blood #18 and Son of Poseidon, Son of Adam, Gryffindor 7th year

reply

I know I'm being a hater right now, but what exactly did you like about G.I Joe?

reply

I liked the plot. Yeah it's revealed McCullan is the villain pretty early and the whole Rex twist was unexpected. I like the characters especially Scarlett and Snake Eyes. The action sequences were cool especially the Paris chase scene. I know a lot of people hated Tataum and less hated Wayan but their acting in it didn't bother me. To sum it up this movie entertained me for 2hrs.

Now that I think about it, the Snake eyes story wasn't that bad. I really didn't like anything else about the movie, but to each his own

Tron: Legacy is definitely one of the films I always defend from (what I perceive as) irrational hate. I think it's honestly pretty cool and much more interesting than the original. Philosophically speaking, it has a lot more going for it than most Hollywood crap.

Prometheus - I have heard, read and understood all of the criticisms of this movie. But what can I say? The themes hit my sweet spot. I just really enjoy the intellectual content of this movie, despite it's silly moments.

Wrath of the Titans - I was expecting this film to be crap, because it got even worse reviews than it's horrible predecessor, Clash of the Titans. But I was pleasantly surprised. The art design was cool, the action was gritty and intense (instead of the ridiculous wire-fu we witnessed in the first), and had more human emotion than the first, also. Other than the slightly annoying comic sidekick, there really isn't much wrong with the film.

All of the Star Wars prequels - People love to hate on these films, and I understand why, but it's gone a little far.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture - I know, I know. It's way to slow. But cut out the long shots of the Enterprise flying through V'gers interior, and you get what would have been one of the best 40 minutes episodes of TOS ever.

Tron Legacy (obviously)
The Pirates of the Carri bean sequels (even the Jack Sparrow movie..it`s OK at best)
Sinbad Legend of the Seven Seas (by Dreamworks..does anybody else remember it?)
Avatar (James Cameron). I actually liked the "dances with smurfs" angle. Pocahontas in space can be interesting.

....and Van Helsing, as a guilty pleasure. Yep.

Some people see what is and ask Why, while others see what might be and ask Why not?

Constantine, Tron Legacy, and The Mummy are mine. I don't know why, but I can watch Constantine anytime, any place. Tron Legacy's music, atmosphere, CGI, cinematography.... everything just appeals to me. And The Mummy was the first DVD I ever got. It's been a pet movie ever since.

Death to Smoochy - To me it's hilarious. I put in in regular rotation with all of the other comedies I watch again and again like The Big Lebowski, The Jerk, Half Baked, etc.

Lady in the Water - I'm a sucker for the sentimental nature of every one in the apartment complex coming together, each one having their own special purpose. Can't help it, I just think it's sweet and I get choked up when Paul Giamatti cries about missing his family.

Same here can't figure how so many look down on the movie. It's a really fun movie to watch and I know some people personally that have memorized most of the movie's line.

I really like 2 comedies that seem to be despised the Pink Panther (the first one with Steve Martin) and Eurotrip. I have watched both many times as well.

And I genuinely think they're good movies btw.
