Is this a joke?

A cross over game of thrones/hunger games movie? At least try to use the same millennium. Honestly thought this was a joke until the end of the trailer

It's based on a book that takes place 64 years before the first "Hunger Games" book/movie.

reply

More like it's based on a massive pile of shit, like the rest of THG.

It's based on a prequel book that the original author wrote recently. It apparently reveals the start of the "modern" Hunger Games that came later in that universe, as well as the rise of President Snow (who is a teenager and not a president yet in this story) as well as revealing who Katniss's grandma was.

reply

"as well as revealing who Katniss's grandma was."

That's not in the book. There are fan theories, but there was nothing definitive in the book.

reply

The movie only has the reveal from where Katniss has her name from (a plant). Potentially one of the friends is related to Katniss, because they walk around, but none is introduced as Aberdeen. Also the movie is 65 years in the past, in such a rural world, its quite likely at that time their grand-grand parents moved around.

I'm not saying it isn't possible that Lucy Gray Baird is Katniss Everdeen's great-great (whatever) grandmother. I'm simply saying that the book does not make that declaration.

It's possible, but there are many indicators that Katniss is not Lucy's decedent. I wouldn't be surprised if Katniss was a decedent of a member of the Covey, but I doubt it's Lucy.

I also haven't said anything either. ;) But I am also with you, that I highly doubt that this rebellious, bitchy, paranoid kid becomes the grandmother of Katniss. I would bet my money more on one of her friends, in the movie there are some kids who have the blandness of the Aberdeen family.
