Can't Disney just stop after Lightyear?

It just seems quite unnecessary to shove political outlooks in movies made mainly for young kids. Did they forget about the outcry that was Lightyear? Was there perhaps another story of how it made it in this movie?

Well, you know, it's not political - it's gay acceptance. And that is an important subject to push on impressionable minds who are not yet rigid and hateful.
