Why? Wasn’t she the bigger fraudster?

reply

Why did she change the sound of her voice?

reply

She was a lunatic. She dressed up like Steve Jobs too. I think the voice thing was her schtick to sound older, serious, and masculine. It was a good grift, until it wasn’t.

Without looking too deeply into the actual facts presented to the jurors, it seems from the press and the podcast this film was based on that Balwani had more direct contact with investors and patients than Holmes did, making it factually easier to convict him of all counts.

Holmes was smart enough to maintain a certain distance, giving her "plausible deniability" when the actual accusations were leveled at her.

And, no doubt, the fact that she's a moderately attractive white woman helped her more than Balwani's midde-aged ethnic appearance helped him. Holmes knew that, too. I personally suspect she even planned to be visibly pregnant at trial, before COVID delayed the case beyond childbirth.
