Annie Wilkes syndrome

Like the Star Wars prequels (Episodes 1-3), I think some Game of Thrones fans suffer from the Annie Wilkes syndrome. Annie Wilkes was the female villain in the Stephen King movie and book Misery. Kathy Bates played this role of a disturbed woman who obsessed over an author's books.

Anyways, some of these fans get too wrapped up in some of these films. In Star Wars for example, they went as far as to say that then nine year old Jake Lloyd personally ruined their lives because Episode 1 was a bad film. While not a great film, wtf was everyone expecting? Shakespeare?

Some fans got too upset over Season 8 of GoT that they demanded a rewrite. Seriously?

Rewrite is clearly a dumb idea. Remade 8th season will still be perceived as an alternate ending, given that GRRM said it was his ending as well. Hell, even if it does get fixed, and more scenes are added to help navigate Denny towards madness in a more coherent manner, the disappointment people felt with the initial script and viewing will still be there - so what's the point?

What's next? Remake Titanic? What's done is done. Having said that, it would have been nice for the writers of the final season admit that they seriously fucked up. Apologize to the fans and say that their future works will not have the same issues. Instead - they are in hiding, hoping for the storm to blow over and everyone to forget who fucked up season 8 and how and watch the prequels (curiously enough, I suspect most peeps will watch that - just like the star wars crap).

Just so you know, I wasn't serious when I signed the "REWRITE SEASON 8 YOU FUCKERS" petition, and I don't think anyone else was either.

Well, I was serious about absolutely hating the mess they made of the final season, but when the petition started to snowball most of us just signed it as a way to tell HBO how pissed we were about that mess. What was the final count, anyway? I know it was over a million when I lost interest.

reply

1.7 million and counting.

reply

That's hilarious!

But I have yet to hear from a single fan who EVER seriously thought a re-do could ever happen. We just wanted to let HBO know how we felt.

The Star Wars prequels are GOOD, but not GREAT. But it's the sequel trilogy which is CRAP. Got it?

reply

This is why I avoid the Star Wars fandom.
