Inconsistency in Bran's Character

The show took a lot of air time this season to establish that Bran is no longer Bran, "not really though." The scene with Meera was painful to watch, but it seemed purposeful to establish Bran's full transition. The scene with Sansa by the tree showed he lost the ability to be sensitive even with his own family.

But now Bran is acting human again by helping his sisters bring down LF, and by being concerned that Jon know his true identity. Maybe you could say that he sees these things as essential to the bigger picture, but I think both were done out of concern for the people involved. He was nicer to Sam for helping him across the wall years ago than he was to Meera for saving him and dragging him around.

It reminds me of the movie The Transporter; the story takes a lot of time establishing that "this guy has rules" but then he immediately breaks those rules by accepting a impromptu assignment and then checking what's in the package. Why even bother with all of the setup then? As story telling goes, when you remind someone of "The Transporter," you've probably done something wrong.

I think he sent Meera away to protect her, and gave her that cold and indifferent "Bran doesn't live here anymore" routine because that was the only way she'd leave him. Maybe his abilities allowed him to see that only if she left would she avoid a horrible death in the coming war. Maybe he was just afraid of what might happen. Who knows? But he's clearly not as changed as he pretended to be. More like a kid who's had lifetimes' worth of memories and experiences dumped into his head. At times he still reminds you of the kid, other times he's the old and wise ancient guru, but he's definitely still himself.

That would be a good argument if it wasn't for the fact that she was there to tell him that she was leaving. She was already going to leave, but she was offended by his seemingly ungrateful and dismissive attitude.

I think she wanted him to ask her to stay. She was obviously in love with him, although we don't really know if he felt the same way. Maybe he did but realized he either had to give her up or watch her die. Certainly the Night King would use her against him if he could.

He was messed up because he became the 3-eyed raven way before he was ready, so most of this season he was working that out and last night was a hint that he is getting better with his abilities.

In support of "he is getting better," he did fulfill Sam's request to verify the scroll pretty quickly. Seeing as how he wouldn't have immediately known how and where the wedding would have taken place, it was conveniently fast. I'm OK with expedited storylines and travel times given the number of episodes left, which is also the reason I am curious why the storytellers found the Meera and Sansa interactions worthy of precious air time.

Other than telling Jon in person next season, I wonder what role Bran will even play. Maybe he'll warn Winterfell earlier than they would have otherwise known about the wall.

Bran knows the origin of the White Walkers and can give more details about them, since they don't seem to be very talkative. The treaty they made with the humans at the God's Eye will probably be depicted in season 8 via Bran's vision, and maybe they end the war with a new treaty.
