Ummm wrong board..

So the only reason why I watched this movie was because the trailers made it look like it had the same tone And feel of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies( which I really like especially the first one)

my hope going in was that it would maybe be 50% as fun and as good as the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

Now after watching this movie I honestly can't tell if this movie simply had no hope from the beginning or if this was a case where the director just failed on an epic level.

Or actually I think it could be both

I don't think this movie should have ever been made probably but the direction of this movie was beyond awful and I got to believe a better director could have at least made it fun

there was almost no action but the action sequences that took place were among the worst I've seen in a major blockbuster, the CGI was absolutely awful and the score / music / theme was just pathetic which resulted in all the action sequences being even more lifeless, at no point was this film fun, exciting or resembled anything that the Pirates of the Caribbean movies got right.

I really do think a competent director could have made this at least fun and somewhat enjoyable, I don't think it ever could have been a good movie or been even close to on par with the pirate movies but the level at which this director failed is almost astonishing

the absolute lone positive for me was I did think Emily Blunt was pretty good in this film

if you enjoyed the movie, I'm glad, I wish I did, I wanted to, I watch the Pirates of the Caribbean movies once every few years because I truly enjoy them. I almost want to watch them now to get this awful taste out of my mouth of jungle cruise

Johnny Depp is older than them LOL
