I saw the extended version of The Town:

I saw the extended version of The Town, which provided more closure than the original theatrical version.

For one thing, when Claire was harassed by two guys from the projects, it was revealed exactly who they were, and Jem and Doug, through a go-between drug dealer named Kenny, found out where the two guys who'd harassed Claire lived, broke down their apartment door, and beat the crap out of both of them, and permanently crippled one of them.

Also, more towards the beginning of the film, there were a whole bunch of people near the Charlestown housing project watching while the van that Doug and his friends had driven from the North End back to Charlestown after robbing a North End Bank, got torched, and none of the Townies watching the van burn would answer when FBI Agt. Frawley asked if anybody had seen who'd lit the van on fire.

More towards the end, when Doug MacRay was about to get into his car to head off for Florida, he met up with the 2 Dominican guys (who'd also been working for Fergie, the drug dealer) whose apartment he and Jem and broken into, beat up, shot, and permanently injured one of them. When one of them asked Doug MacRay for the money that he had, and where Jem was, Doug told the two Dominican guys that Jem wasn't there, he had ten thousand dollars, which he offered to them, but they wouldn't accept.

When Doug asked the Dominican guy who he'd permanently crippled by shooting him in the leg, "HOw's your leg?", the Dominican guy shot and killed Doug, on the spot, despite Doug having said that he'd get into his car, and that they'd never see him again.

Doug left money for Claire to do what she wanted to do with it, and he left Krista (who was a drug and alcohol addled mess with an infant daughter.) a duffle bag of cash so that she could take care of herself and her daughter, Shane.

Claire spent the money on the renovation of the Charlestown skating rink, after having taken the money that Doug had hidden in Claire's garden for her, and she had her own personal memorial for Doug in her Charlestown Condominium.

Having said all of the above, the Extended version of The Town provided much more closure than the other 2 cuts of "The Town" did. It proved that escaping, or attempting to escape a bad upbringing in a bad environment was way easier said than done. The fact that Doug and his accomplices all ended up dead, at least in part due to Krista's having ratted them out to FBI Agt. Frawley, due to Doug's having rejected her for Claire, also provided more closure, and while the romance between Doug and Claire was too developed for my liking, I admittedly liked the extended version of "The Town" way better than the original theatrical version of "The Town", which had a lot of holes in it.

The extended version of "The Town", however, pointed out that Krista, despite being a drug and alcohol addled/addicted mess, was far more involved in the business of bank robbing than the original theatrical version made her out to be.
