I hate Pete...................

Always hated guys like this in high school and college and real life after that..........Little self-serving prick. What's infuriating is these kinds of people advance in life more than others.....Sad.

Deerfield and Dartmouth.

What did you expect?

I despised him in the earlier seasons, but he becomes one of the best characters later on.

Wendy? Darling? Light, of my life!

My reply was going to be similar. I agree.

reply

I'm surprised more people didn't dot Pete's eye.

reply

I always thought Pete landed women that were way out of his league. While I despised him, his character was great.

reply

You gotta remember, that with Pete, everything is an act of somekind. He's a very skilled account man, capable of making others feel good and that's his angle on women, too. But in the competetive work environment his narcissitic side and pride/ambition makes him very prickly and undesirable.

reply

LoL ya Pete was a dick. I loved the fight between him and Lane.

Pete was the best character on the show. Most enjoyable to watch. Yes he was a entitled prick. But what made him great is that because he was such an ass he always got into trouble or got smacked down by others around him.

Whether it was at work, with his wife, her father, his family, or other girls he got involved with, his personality always made him look like an ass or a loser. Which was enjoyable to watch. Then he'd somehow have to go crawling back hands and knees to put the situation at ease.

Since he never really got away with anything, you can't hate him that much.

^^This 100%^^

Pete is one of my favorites. I should hate him; on the surface we are total opposites. However, he has such an awkward, sad, pathetic loneliness that it is difficult not to empathize with him. The moment when he's in the elevator with Don after his fight with Lane, and he says "I have nothing," is arguably the most heart wrenching moment in the series for me. I loved that he found some kind of happiness in the end.

A good example of how bad he fails is when I think it was the 2nd to last season where they first show Don fooling around behind Megan's back and he make's it look so smooth and easy. Then they cut to Pete doing the same thing with his CT neighbor's wife in his city apartment and it just looks so awkward you can hardly bear to watch it.

Then to top it all off, that girl goes and tells her husband who beats her up and is forced to stay with Pete and Trudy, and she eventually tells Trudy what happens and it totally wrecks his life as Trudy lays down the law with him.

Yeah, but knowing his track record, how long do you think that happiness lasted? I think the wife made a mistake taking him back.

reply

You gotta love Pete. He's the only person that can make tripping and falling into a support beam the biggest issue in the world.

But he did get a little better as time went on, especially when he did a complete 180 and actually saved Don from being exposed.

reply

One of my favorite scenes will always be Lane kicking the crap out of him.

I hate that obnoxious twit too.

reply

Such an awesome scene.
And how Don, Roger and Bert just watched.
Priceless.

reply

Unfortunately it didn't help Lane in the long run.

reply

In the beginning, I did not like him. After, his character got much better

However, I did like his comment to Don or Lane, "what ghost visited you"
His delivery of that one lane was superb
