Well... AvP 1 and 2 aren't the best films ever, but they are at least entertaining. Seeing the alien and predator fight in the first film was good, and I enjoyed the character-building parts of the film for the first 30 minutes or so (even though all those characters died). Also I really enjoyed how we saw a little of the predator's "culture" in the first movie.
The second one was less about characters (the acting was pretty bad and there was a cheesy teen romance added so that Hollywood could make an extra billion from the teen audience) but again it was cool to see the predators/aliens on earth, in a large city full of people. It could've been done way better but it was good in some parts.
As for movies which were worse than AvP: Requiem? I can think of two right away. The two Matrix sequels. The third sequel especially was atrocious. The only movie I've EVER fallen asleep half-way through.

I enjoyed AVP 1 too. AVP 2 had that feel of trying to please too many demographics and so not really pleasing any.
We are in agreement on the 3rd Matrix film being a dissappointment, I however actually really enjoyed the Matrix Returns, although it didn't expand upon the first so agree that it was a "failure" in many aspects.
