13.19 Funeralia

Does anyone know what this episode title is referencing?

Anyways, both Rowena and Naomi are listed as guest stars. What would bring Naomi back?

reply

Naomi? Really. Another AU character maybe.

Funeralia as far as I can tell means funeral rites.

Gabriel alive and now Naomi, both faked their deaths? Who's next?!

I'm surprised they told us that Sam is the one that is going to kill Rowena...that's like a future spoiler if it ever happens.
I thought the episode was decent, but it didn't feel like a MOW or a mythology, but in between.
The best thing (IMO) is how Dean/Sam are always saving each other and how it switches off. Like in "The Thing" Dean was going to save Sam, but in the end Sam went to save Dean. IS that corny? It's one of the major formula's to SPN.

What did Billie mean when she said "See You Soon??"

reply

Not seen the episode yet. But I can imagine Billie meant that she knows what's gonna happen down the line as she expects it. She feels it or a six sense whatever you call it. Reapers are very powerful, and know whom they will reap down the line at some point. So must know maybe a figure of speech but that's my bet.

When Naomi said it took her a while to get back I remembered Uriel had said the only way to kill an Angel was with the Angel Blade. Had completely forgotten that.

I wasn't surprised when she said there was about a dozen or less Angels left to take care of Heaven. Between Cas killing a whole lot back when he became "God" and then in almost every other episode one or more are killed they are definately down to just a few.

Agree how Dean and/or Sam is going to sacrifice himself they tell the other not to do anything. And yet they do. Bobby had told Sam when he was being rescued from Hell, that he had taught them that promise but it was a non promise. Sam is always wanting to sacrifice himself and Dean just jumps in with both feet without seeing if there is a alternate way. Then it's up to the other to pull him back from the edge. That's the best part of the show.

reply

This is what I love so much about the story telling, that the boys do the exact opposite about what they always promised and what they always stood by. Remember what is dead should stay dead, when have they ever stood by that one.

I think that God needs to knuckle down and create some more angels. He said back in S10 that he didn't have enough juice to make any more archangels, but then he must be able to still create something as ultimately powerful as other angels like the knights and princess of hell, there must be another form of stronger angel he could create? Yes angels are getting thin on the ground. I thought God could put a line into plan that when an angel ceases to exist (Killed) that another is automatically replaced, like a prophet??

reply

The stupid part was when they said that Heaven specifically operates on Angel juice, which Naomi explained that they CAN'T leave heaven now or all the ghosts will be set free.

Yet, in one of the previous seasons ALL OF THE ANGELS WERE PURGED from HEAVEN and LOST their WINGS too. Heaven didn't exactly shut down and no ghosts were released. NOT to mention that ALL of the remaining angels are at Castiel level de-powered now. Even after Metatron let them back in.

reply

It doesn't matter what happened in the past. Consistency and memory are non-existent in the writers' room.

Remember when fighting a demon was next to impossible, and forget killing one. Before the demon killing knife demons were practically unstoppable. Now Sam and Dean beat the hell out of them five or ten at a time.

Remember when a shape shifter had to shed its skin? Now they can just shift at will with no "leftovers".

Remember how they didn't want to kill demons because they were killing an innocent vessel? Now they don't seem to care about the humans they kill.

There are countless better examples. I just can't think of them right now. The writers and show runners don't care about or respect anything that's happened previously in the series. They come across as ignorant and incompetent as a result and they don't care about that either.

reply

Yeah, I dunno anymore either LOL. Don't quite understand whether angels and demons are possessing vessels while in heaven/hell, was Crowley possessing someone elses body too? :D
