Would ANYONE put up with that kind of treatment?

I understand that this was a movie and went overboard with the "Dramatic License" but I honestly believe that if they were treated like that, specifically those instances, that EVERYONE, at some point, would have told Miranda to F_CK OFF!

Opinions?

"He's not Judge Judy and executioner!"

Yeah, "Take This Job and Shove It" would be my last statement to her, about hour two of day one.

From what I read, Andy wanted really badly to be a reporter or writer for magazines she wanted to work at, because she didn't actually like writing for the fashion industry. I mean, she was fresh out of college and needing a job really bad, and apparently wasn't willing to start from the bottom, not with the degree she had. Then she hears that spending a year under that demon Miranda will get her any job in any magazine or newspaper she wanted, I mean, without knowing what she was getting into, that sounded like a pretty sweet deal....until she found out the catch. So instead of paying the price with time and effort, she was paying the price in emotional torture and going to a very specific area of hell on earth for a year. It's also possible Andy saw it as a personal challenge, like climbing a mountain. Honestly, climbing Mount Everest with no training or extra oxygen would be easier by a long shot.

I've had employers and supervisors like that, and I've told them where to stick it. Possibly why my career never really got on. Standing up for yourself usually doesn't pay.

In some jobs where there are few openings and people work really hard to get there, people in charge wield an awful lot of power. If she had fired any of them, or if any of them had told her off and quit, they would not just have lost the job, but any future in that industry. If you have worked scraped and struggled for years to get a big break, and the person above you can ruin that and any chance of you ever getting another break then that person has tremendous power over you.

There are some careers where with a snap of the fingers someone can ruin all the work you have put into your career over the past 10-15 years without any recourse and they know it and they know that the you know it. I've worked for people like that, and they enjoy the power they have over peoples future careers, and the the fear and humiliation they can inflict while knowing the person has too much to lose by even showing the slightest hint of defiance.
