Kill is probably an extreme choice of words because McG still works in Hollywood.

What I mean specifically, is that did Terminator Salvation end McG's career as a blockbuster director just as it was getting started?

While the leaked audio of Christian Bale's furious rant on set wasn't directly aimed at McG, it did likely show those in charge that he may not be able to handle future big projects.
