How did you like Clerks II?

Me I give the movie an 8/10, thought it was a really funny movie although it was a bit more crude than the original.

It's a mixed bag. I hated it back in the day. I watched it yesterday to freshen up for the soon to be released third installment. Basically, I think it's a pretty crappy sequel to Clerks, but a reasonably good movie of it's own merit. The scenes seesaw from try-to-hard to absolutely nailing the themes and characters of the original movie. And then you have this weird kind of romcom plot sandwiched in there. I watched it this time in black and white and definitely preferred it that way. I think that was half the charm of the original. Something about it makes the jokes land better. I found the crass dialog to be needlessly so and terribly excessive. It felt like Smith didn't actually want to make a sequel to Clerks but had to so he could make some money.

I thought it was great, but I get why some people don't like it. Much raunchier and more in line with R rated comedies of the 2000's than the indie feel of the first movie.

It was alright, but it not only kept Dante as a passive weak man, but also turned him into an unlikeable person with his inexplicable relationships. Randall was clever and his situation understandable in the original with some enlightening lines. Both characters were turned into aged, unmotivated, douches working at a fast food place that apparently never needs to be manned. Just didn't work for me.
