The Incident

So, when Jack had this plan to blow up a hydrogen bomb on the island (Was actually Daniel's idea) and Juliet fell down and hit that bomb with a rock 8 times, did it detonate? Did it blow up? How on earth did Jack, Juliet, Sawyer, Sayid, Jin and Hurley just magically put themselves to the future? One moment, it's 1977 and bam, it's 2007... How?

I've been watching this show, and reading up about it. Everything else in the show has been explained, like I understand how those specific people jumped back in time after disappearing off the Ajira plane, and how the specific people were jumping around in time after Ben dislodged the wheel to move the island, but what on earth is the explanation for what happened after that incident?

And also, is it implied that there is only one timeline? Meaning Miles was right in the end? That WAS the incident the Dharma Initiative always talked about? And Desmond's hatch WAS built after that? Why do the two craters look so different though?

Picture of the imploded hatch after Desmond uses the fail-safe:

Picture of the blown up hatch after Juliet apparently blew up the bomb from 1977:

My answer for this was that once the energy from the explosion happened, the instant it happened, they were instantly transported in time. I agree its a stretch that Juliet wasn´t incinerated by this the moment it happened since she was closer to the bomb than anything else, unless somehow the bomb was directly sitting on the electro-magnetic anomaly area. I think the answer to the second question is that one was an implosion the other was an explosion and Desmond´s hatch implosion went through both incidents.
