How intelligent are those guys?

Besides there being a ground-breaking discovery about them managing to ultimately create a time machine, how intelligent do you think those guys are?

I mean, they seem perfectly capable of constantly speaking in sophisticated mathematical and scientific terms, are very technologically advanced and proficient, know full well certain formulas and how they work (I myself in life frequently struggled with lesser and more basic things as such, and often even when I put the best and most effort in, I rarely succeeded) and they also seem to speak very good English without a struggle etc.

Plus as a result they seem to have become rich and whatnot.

So how intelligent do you think they are and what is likely their IQ levels, thanks.

Was their ground-breaking discovery an accident?

reply

not that i remember

Their subsequent actions about what to do with it were much more "baser instinct" though

Within the context of this movie, more or less yes. But still...

They came across as being ultra clever, I was never like them at any point in my life.

You saw a different movie than I did.

reply

They didn't strike you as particularly smart? :)

reply

I suspect they were average at best.

I agree, they stumbled on the time travel part by accident. They never explicitly say what they are going for, but it appears they were trying to decrease the mass of objects. They even state, what they have could probably be useful, but they can't market something they don't yet know what it is, for fear of being exploited. Abe first finds out about the time looping when he takes the weeble to the lab and finding out its growing years worth of fungus in a couple of days.... which led him to the watch experiment... which led him to figure out the time loop.
