I don’t think the point of that exchange was the chips being worthless. I think it was for a “holy shit, Bond just gave that guy $500,000!” It was to show Bond isn’t in this for the money. Neither was Felix. They’re in it for the juice. The chips were cashable for the dealer, because they were purchased and paid for by the player. The dealer had a nonchalant response because he was a big, BIG-time dealer, and a pro, and when you deal multi-million dollar stakes, you see a lot of huge tips.
