Any reason for the nudity?

I'm not a prude at all but in the film the night before the dive the female character is lying on the bed fully naked. From watching the scene I could not see any reason for this? Or is it just me?

The actress who did the nude scene (Blanchard Ryan) has said it was gratuitous/cheap titillation/to keep the audience awake - but also comes up with character/story reasons for it. She's trying to have it both ways I suppose, lol.

Yes. To give us a reason to watch this boring ass yawnfest.

And if you have an actress willing to strip totally naked, then you damn well let her strip totally naked.

You are a prude indeed. Blanchard Ryan had a beautiful bush indeed. I got very hungry upon seeing it. It's too bad more women wouldn't have one like hers. I wish there was much more nudity like it in today's movies. Nudity is a wonderful thing in film.

From IMDB ~
In 2013 star Blanchard Ryan discussed her full nude scene in a podcast interview, including seeing it with her parents. She felt the scene was a gratuitous move but agreed it was necessary because the beginning of the movie was boring and they needed something to wake people up. When she saw it with her parents at a screening, they both had different reactions. Her father took it in stride because he comes from a sports background and has a locker room mentality about nudity. But her mom was horrified about seeing her "little girl" naked on screen. Ryan said she and her father laughed about it because her mom was more worried about Ryan taking her clothes off in front of the world than her being in danger swimming with real sharks.

Because otherwise this amateurish yawnfest would be a total waste of time.
