The End... Women and Men VOTE HERE (Spoiler Alert!)

For those that have seen the ending, lets vote... Did they die in cement or live to be old people in that nursing home? No votes for him dying in the parking lot, that's dumb.

The form is like this:

yeah i think the cement scene is just them like letting go of their childish game, thats why we see the box in the cement. like if the box was out in the open they will contiue playing the game. with out the game they don't have to shield or diguise their love.

My Vote: I have no idea! and it frustrates me as hell...ah, they died.
I am: Female

reply

My vote: I want to think they lived, but I don't know, I didn't understand the end of the movie.
I am:Female

I though at first that they lived, but it became clear to me they died. Cause Julien mentionned something that its how they were finally able to live their love with no end like they always wanted.

So for me they died, Female

reply

They died. :( It would've been really nice (although cheesy) if they lived though. But that would probably cause more problems since they're both married and he has kids etc etc.

My Vote: They died. I just found it strange that the nursing home scene was very similar to the scene when they are children in the headteacher's office. I thought the ending would be like a dying dream - they dreamed of immortal love, and created a final fantasy, in which they live and are still being foolish and playing the tin game even when they are old and in a nursing home. It's implied they die, as well, when the young Sophie and Julien are talking and they decide you must "never, ever, not even if you best friend dares you, get into wet cement."

There was this part, where Julien was thinking : "It can cut down everything. Better than anaesthetic, cocain, high purity cocain, reefer Indian hemp,LSD,hallucinogen Better than sex, blowjob, rave party, complex sexual relationship Better than the butter on the peanuts. Better than Lucas, end of The dance of Marylin, and Schtroumpfette Better than Lara Croft Better than Jimmy Hendrix, than Armstrong. Better than the walk-around by Santa Claus Better than Bill Gates, then the trances of Dalai-Lama. Better than the collagen on the lips of Pamela Anderson Better than the drugs of Rimbaud, Morrison. Better than freedom. Better than life" .

So, because of the "better than life" idea, embedded in the script, my vote is: They died. I am female.

My vote: I have no idea. honestly
I am: Female.

I am very much leaning towards the fact that they died but at the very end the part where they're in cement seemed very much like his circus type dreams. so i have no idea.

My Vote: They lived

but to be honest i dont think it matters either way. both are beautiful metaphors

me: male

my vote: i say they died, but the whole point of the ending was you could make youe own mind up. watch it with a current gal and they live, watch it when you've broken up, and they died

My vote: they lived

I think they died otherwise what was the point in immersing themselves in concrete? I then think they came back to life in the afterlife and had the life they wanted and should have had in the first place.

i don't see why they should have died - why couldn't they run away and live on an island together...why did it have to end in death?

You are a male, but your name is Elizabeth Binder? I think we have to chuck this vote, unless you can tell me what the deal is. Thanks.
