Major problem with this movie, just noticed it after 20 viewings

I've seen all or most of I, Robot at least 20 times. But today watching it I noticed a major problem with the film.

Near the end, when they decided to use the Nanites to kill VIKI, Sonny talks about having a denser alloy to get through the security field storing the Nanites. He reaches in, grabs a vial and has it filled with Nanites. They then cut away.

How did he get the glass vial out through the security field? No way would the glass have survived it.

reply

Depends on what the force field was made of. Glass, fwiw, is a very stable substance. It's used to store and transport some of the most toxic and reactive liquids known to man. When you buy high molar acids, guess how they come? In glass...

There is a major problem in watching this movie 20 times...

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

reply

I assumed that the glass was always within the security field, they were designed for that purpose.

20 times?!
I've never watched any movie more than 5 times. Casablanca and Lawrence of Arabia.

reply

ahhaah exactly.
once was enough for this movie I'm afraid..

The major problem with this movie is that it’s an insult to Asimov’s collection of short stories titled I, Robot and that introduced his legendary Three Laws of Robotics. That collected work was caviar, subtle, deep, considered. This was a Will Smith vehicle.

The last time you saw a Will
Smith movie that was subtle, deep, considered was, when . . . ?

This was more like I, Cashbot.
