I'm crying!!!!

At the end of the movie!!! My God.....so many emotions. I actually feel bad for this woman.

Not the first time I've seen it.....but the first time seeing it without any kids around interrupting.....lol.

I know she killed...but she was so completely messed up and all she wanted was love.

Don't go throwing sticks at me people......just stating my opinion.

Charlize was PERFECT. Ricci was great too. Did she win anything for supporting role?

I don't know......i just feel that life effed her over......

Her first kill wasn't premeditated....I'd have killed him, too.

But eventually she started killing for the cars she got.....to please Selby.

Oh I don't know.....I believe in the death penalty......I also believe that a life in prison is a fate worse than death.

Just rambling.....not crying anymore.....but still feel bad for her. Cause the ONE thing she loved......and got love BACK.....sold her out!!!

She was really a victim and they killed her.

In a perfect world she would still be out there. Keeping them honest.

I'm saying that but I don't really mean it.

The facts are fuzzy.

Anyone who just discredits this movie and says, "She killed therefore she was bad and deserved to die" basically did not understand one minute of the movie, is barely human and is not very intelligent. The whole point is that Aileen was so horribly abused and ignored by society, that is made her basically into a sociopath and a killer. It's not an excuse, but it is a reason, and she deserves sympathy because she was never given a chance, and that lead to the destruction of innocent lives. It's a tragedy all around. Do you really think if Aileen grew up in a normal, non-abusive middle class home she would have become a prostitute and killed men? I don't think so...this is a woman who at 13 was living in the woods. People who just condemn Aileen as a heartless killer who "chose" to kill really are not able to face the flaws in an unjust society where some people have protected lives and others like Aileen are abused and abandoned by the system. The point of the title "Monster" is that like Frankenstein's monster that was created by man and abandoned, Aileen was a product of society, abused, abandoned and left to spiral out of control until she met tragic ends. Everyone is responsible for what happened to her and the men she killed.

There seems to be a lot more understanding because of her gender. It's all the product of a male dominated society. Charles Manson and every other male serial killer get no such sympathy. You could say Manson was created by woman. His pitiful excuse for a mother was a right piece of work who traded him for a pint of beer.

We can't forgive what she did. She even murdered an innocent man who wasn't even propositioning her but trying to help her (seen in the film as the last victim - and played by actor Scott Wilson aka Hershel from The Walking Dead).

The film does a good job of not condoning her actions. I think the film's goal was to make us understand what led to those actions - to delve deeper than just the headlines and scant bios, but the film also reminds us how wrong her murder spree was (the title alone kind of says it). As others have said, many go through even worse torture and calamities in life and still do not do what Aileen did.

"I know she killed...but she was so completely messed up and all she wanted was love."

So, if I'm completely messed up and all I want is love, and I murder one of your loved ones, you'll understand and not be too harsh on me?
