Alan Cumming Recalled How Halle Berry Confronted Director Bryan Singer On "X2: X-Men United" Set

Cumming said that everything started when the cast, who included Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, James Marsden and Famke Janssen, decided to have a little talk with Singer about his behavior at work.

Cumming wrote that Singer “admitted [that] he was using painkillers at the time” and the group wanted to have an intervention with him.

Berry specifically talked to Singer about “people she had known with drug issues” and she “spoke movingly” of them.

But after taking a pause, Singer allegedly told his co-workers, "you people … are full of fucking shit!” And that "none of [them] had ever made a decent film.”

Cumming also wrote that Singer told the actors that they "were lucky to be working with him,” so Berry decided to walk away.

"I've heard enough," she allegedly said while leaving the intervention. "You can kiss my Black ass."

The Hollywood Reporter has also published an article about an incident that occurred on the X2 set. In 2020, they said that executive producer Tom DeSanto "attempted to halt shooting when he learned that Singer was incapacitated after taking a narcotic."

However, Singer decided to continue shooting and that caused Jackman to get injured on set. Thus, leading to the cast’s intervention.

But this isn’t the only time that Singer has been in the news. In 2019, he was accused of sexually assaulting underage boys.

There's enough rumors about him that I think it's possible there's something that went on, but these people all worked with him 3, 4, and more times. Stop going back to work with these people then scapegoating them years later.

This was the last time Cummings was in an X-Men movie. Berry was in the next one but it was directed by someone else. It was years before Synger directed another X-Men film.

So where is this "working together 3, 4 more times" shit coming from? Berry stopped working with the guy for over a decade, coming back for one role and hasn't done anything with him since. Same goes for Stewart, Jackman, and Jansenn. Marsden worked with him on Superman Returns but then they stopped working together until DOFP where he had a two second cameo. Meanwhile, Cummings stopped working with him all together and never returned to the franchise. So yeah, I'm not sure why you think Synger and the cast of X-Men kept working together multiple times over the years.

Oooh, thanks for pointing out Marsden in Superman Returns and his DOFP cameo. Good eye!

Stewart, Jackman, McKellan, Berry all came back at some point. The First Class cast was in it for 3-4 movies. All of these people worked with him multiple times. You know this.
