Found it very funny in parts, couldn't help but lol.

It mixes genres. Casablanca, one of the greatest screenplays of all time, does exactly that.

American Beauty was never considered a comedy but it had some funny parts in it.

Adaptation is actually quite funny. Although, I wasn't crazy about the ending and portraying Laroche with two missing front teeth was kinda dumb but maybe he really was like this, idk. Either way, I thought this was a great film and I really don't care for Nic Cage that much but he was pretty good in this.

I'll give it an 8.0 out of 10. It makes me want to read The Orchid Thief, which is a book I would normally have no interest in. This is a very interesting movie.

It is, but probably closer to dramedy in reality. Too many awkward masturbation scenes to be taken as a serious movie.
